Just saw Kelenna Azubuike go down with about nine minutes left in the first quarter of the Warriors’ game against the Bucks. It was extremely painful to watch. He was laying on the court clutching his left knee and now a couple Warriors players are carrying Azubuike and placing him in the cart, where they will immobilize the leg and take him off the court. It appears very serious.

Azubuike is one of the best players and his is one of the best stories on this team. Losing him would be a major blow. Let’s hope for the best.

I’ll update this entry when there’s additional news.

UPDATE: The Warriors public relations department has reported that Azubuike has injured his left patella. The San Francisco Chronicle is reporting that the injury could cost Azubuike 3-5 months.

UPDATE NO. 2: I just received this e-mail from the Warriors:

Warriors guard/forward Kelenna Azubuike suffered a left patellar tendon injury at the 9:03 mark of the first quarter of tonight’s game at Milwaukee. Azubuike left the game and did not return. An image of his left knee taken at the Bradley Center revealed the patellar tendon injury. Azubuike will not play in either of the team’s remaining games on this road trip (Tuesday at Cleveland and Wednesday at Boston). He will return to the Bay Area tomorrow to consult with team orthopedic physician Dr. Frank Chen for diagnosis and treatment.
