Ellis passed over for All-Star game again

by warriors

For the second time since reserves for the Western Conference All-Star team were announced, Warriors guard Monta Ellis has been passed over to join the team as an injury replacement. The first all-star to bow out was Chris Paul. He was replaced with the Nuggets’ Chauncey Billups. With the news that Blazers guard Brandon Roy would miss the game, there was a chance Ellis, the sixth-leading scorer in the league, would … Read More »

Warriors waive Claxton and why it matters

by warriors

The Warriors announced two moves today. First, they signed forward Anthony Tolliver for the remainder of the season. This move isn’t entirely unexpected because Tolliver hasn’t been terrible since being called up from the Developmental League in mid-January. He is averaging 7.8 points and 5.3 rebounds in 25.2 minutes per game. Concerns about Tolliver? He’s supposed to be a great shooter from everywhere on the court, but he’s shooting only … Read More »

Curry in 3-point shootout

by warriors

Stephen Curry in the NBA 3-point Shootout. This is something I’m excited to see. I love NBA All-Star Weekend. I know that makes me a complete and total NBA geek, and I’m OK with that. Truth be told, the game itself sometimes bores me (OK, almost always bores me), and the dunk contest, despite Dwight Howard’s best efforts, isn’t what it used to be. For me, the best part of All-Star … Read More »

Is Ellis right for Curry?

by warriors

First things first: I want to apologize for the blog break. Work and family responsibilities combined with a bad cold this week to put me out of commission. I’m back now and will try to get back on a more regular blogging schedule. It seems like I’ve written about this a lot lately, but I want to get back to the relationship between Monta Ellis and Stephen Curry. What has happened to … Read More »

Ray Allen for Monta Ellis? No, thank you.

by warriors

By now, most of you should have heard the latest trade rumor involving the Golden State Warriors. According to a report by A. Sherrod Blakely on New England’s CSNNE.com, the Warriors were considering reaching out to the Boston Celtics regarding a trade involving Monta Ellis and Celtics shooting guard Ray Allen. Loss to Suns proves Ellis’ value

by warriors

At least for one game, some people can stop wondering if the Warriors are better off without Monta Ellis in the lineup. The Warriors played hard and showed well on the road Saturday against the Suns before ultimately coming up short in a 112-103 loss (recap, box score). It was a tough loss to watch, because the Warriors played well much of the game and had a chance to earn an impressive road win. … Read More »

ESPN’s Hollinger rips Monta Ellis

by warriors

I was just reading John Hollinger’s chat on ESPN.com from yesterday. One of the questions was about Monta Ellis and whether he deserves to be an All-Star. I was surprised by Hollinger’s response. He throws in a disclaimer saying he’s not trying to make this a rip job, but that doesn’t change what it is. I’ll throw it out there for you and you can tell me what you think. Here’s … Read More »
