Monta Ellis: Keep or trade?

by warriors

There has been a lot of talk recently about the future of Monta Ellis with the Warriors organization. The talk started to heat up following the Stephen Jackson trade, especially after the San Jose Mercury News’ Tim Kawakami reported that the Warriors had been calling teams and offering star guard Ellis in trade. Ellis, who is averaging 19.7 points, 5.3 assists and 4.8 rebounds, has four years and $44 million remaining … Read More »

A feel-good finish to road trip

by warriors

There’s really no shame in this loss. None at all. Did the Warriors play a perfect game? No. But on the fourth and fifth games of a grueling five-game, seven-day Eastern road trip, the Warriors played the Cavaliers and Celtics tough. In the first half against the Celtics, Golden State played really well. As halftime ended, I turned to one of my co-workers and said, “the Warriors will run out of … Read More »

Youth movement should be new focus of season

by warriors

At the start of the season, I really thought this Warriors team could play close to .500 for the season and contend for the final playoff spot in the West. I think it’s safe to say I was completely wrong. After trading Stephen Jackson, and with rumors that Monta Ellis and Don Nelson could both be on their way out soon, this Warriors team looks much more likely to challenge for … Read More »

Warriors take Cavaliers to the wire

by warriors

The Warriors, in the first game after the Stephen Jackson trade, played well in defeat, getting to within three points late in a close game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Unfortunately, too many turnovers and missed shots down the stretch doomed the Warriors, who lost 114-108, in Cleveland. If Golden State had been able to pull off the upset on the road, it would have been a monumental win, especially considering this … Read More »

Warriors do well with Jackson trade

by warriors

I don’t know how you can look at today’s trade and not call it a winner for the Warriors. When you consider that Stephen Jackson had 1) demanded a trade months ago, 2) never backed off that trade demand, 3) demonstrated enough erratic behavior to force the Warriors hand in dealing him sooner than later, and 4) has one of the worst player contracts in the NBA, the Warriors came … Read More »

Warriors trade Jackson to Bobcats

by warriors

The Golden State Warriors acquired guard Raja Bell and forward Vladimir Radmanovic from the Charlotte Bobcats in exchange for forward Stephen Jackson and guard Acie Law. Bell, 33, has appeared in five games for the Bobcats this season (all as a starter), averaging 12.0 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 31.4 minutes. A nine-year NBA veteran, Bell enjoyed one of his most productive NBA seasons last year, averaging 11.9 … Read More »

by warriors

I received this e-mail from the Warriors today about Azubuike: Golden State Warriors guard/forward Kelenna Azubuike, who suffered a left patellar tendon injury during last night’s game at Milwaukee, returned to the Bay Area today and met with team orthopedic physician Dr. Frank Chen at the team’s practice facility. No new information on the injury resulted from today’s meeting, and an MRI has been scheduled for Monday afternoon (November 16) for … Read More »
