If you were drafting by position …

I know the consensus among "draft experts" is that you always draft best player available. I agree for the most part, but that doesn't mean you should adopt such a narrow perspective either. It's OK to consider your team's areas of strength and weakness -- including by position -- when [...]

ESPN has Cousins to Warriors in latest mock

ESPN's Chad Ford has Kentucky center DeMarcus Cousins dropping to the Warriors at No. 6 in his latest mock draft (version 3.0). Check out the entire mock here (you'll need ESPN Insider to read it). Here's what Ford had to say about the prospect of Cousins slipping to the Warriors: [...]

Simmons: Ellison among those to submit bids

Contrary to initial reports, the San Francisco Chronicle's Rusty Simmons writes that Larry Ellison is among those who submitted non-binding bids to purchase the Warriors. The bids -- more than a dozen, according to Simmons -- came in Monday. Simmons' information comes from a source close to the negotiation process. Simmons also reported that Ellison's [...]

Warriors will pick at No. 6

Lady Luck didn't look in the direction of the Warriors on Tuesday night, as the Warriors, who went in with the fourth-best chance of landing the No. 1 pick, instead fell to the sixth overall selection in the 2010 NBA draft. The draft is Thursday, June 24, in New York [...]

What does history teach us?

After tonight's draft lottery, the Warriors will know their draft selection slot, which could be as high as No. 1 all the way down to No. 7. How important is this process? If the Warriors jump up to No. 1, are they set for the playoffs and championship contention for [...]

Big game for Cavaliers

Take a look at my headline for this entry. I think I might be understating it a little bit. I think some of the reporting about the Cavaliers in wake of the drubbing they took in Game 5 and their subsequent 3-2 series disadvantage to the Celtics has been a [...]

Why no love for the Suns?

I've been disappointed in the past week by the lack of attention the national media have given the Suns. I was watching "Outside the Lines" on ESPN on Tuesday and they asked which team was more impressive in its second-round sweep, the Lakers or the Magic? It's a good question, [...]

Looking ahead: The Monta Ellis situation

Are the Warriors set at shooting guard? It's an interesting question. At first glance, it would appear so. The team's starter at the position, Monta Ellis, ranked sixth in the NBA in scoring at 25.5 points per game. That's an impressive stat. But there are many who consider [...]
