Stephen Curry was perceived to be a pretty sure bet to be one of the final 12 players on Team USA’s roster. Most felt his outside shooting ability would come in handy in the international game, which gave him the edge over the Clippers’ Eric Gordon.

Now, with Saturday’s performance against China in a scrimmage, Gordon may have breathed life into a late charge to earn the 12th roster spot over Curry. In Team USA’s 98-51 win, Gordon scored 15 points, hitting 3 of 8 3-pointers. Curry struggled in 13 minutes of playing time, hitting only 1 of 3 from distance and scoring seven points.

I still expect Curry to get the final roster spot, but it may be a closer race than previously reported.
