Warriors in pursuit of Amundson

According to Marc Stein of ESPN, the Warriors are one of four teams trying to sign free agent Louis Amundson. The high-energy power forward, who averaged 4.7 points, 4.4 rebounds and 0.9 blocks in 14.8 minutes per game last season with the Suns, is closing in on a decision between the Warriors, Pacers and Hornets. Another unidentified team, according to Stein, may also be in the mix. Hopefully this means Amundson’s price tag, once expected to be about $3 million per… Read More »

Hornets brass backs up talk

Do you remember when Chris Paul wanted to be traded? Then he met with the Hornets general manager and coach and was impressed enough by their pitch that he changed his mind? Well, it seems the Hornets brass wasn’t just blowing smoke. They seem to recognize what they have in Paul and are at least attempting to improve the team around him. ESPN’s Chad Ford is reporting that a complicated four-team trade has been agreed to that, at least on… Read More »

Trading Monta Ellis: Part 2

In Friday’s entry, we explored the possibility that the new ownership of the Warriors might want to trade Monta Ellis. We then looked at the kind of teams that would be most interested in acquiring Ellis and the kind of pieces the Warriors would want back in a trade. Remember, this isn’t so much a debate about whether Ellis should be traded. We don’t know how the new owners feel, but if they want to part with Ellis, there isn’t… Read More »

Trading Monta Ellis: Part 1

Are the Warriors going to trade Monta Ellis? Nobody really knows for sure. It seems like dealing Ellis and Andris Biedrins and their large contracts may be a priority for the new owners, but there’s no concrete evidence they feel that way. ESPN ran with a reference from Tim Kawakami’s blog and made a big deal that the Warriors might be looking to deal Ellis and Biedrins and fire Don Nelson. I think the Worldwide Leader tried to make a… Read More »

Rudy Fernandez available: Any interest?

I just heard a report from the Oregonian’s Jason Quick that the Blazers are aggressively shopping shooting guard Rudy Fernandez. Quick said that three teams: the Celtics, the Bulls and the Knicks are emerging as likely landing spots for Fernandez. Trades being discussed are of two varieties: Fernandez for a future first-round draft pick or Fernandez in a package deal that brings back a player or a player and picks. With that in mind, do you have any interest in… Read More »

Chris Paul’s statement after meeting

Chris Paul released the following statement after meeting with the Hornets on Monday morning: The meeting went well.  It was great to get an opportunity to sit down with Coach Williams, President Weber and our new General Manager Dell Demps. I expressed my desire to win and I like what they said about the direction that they want to take the team.  I have been a Hornet my entire career and I hope to represent the city of New Orleans… Read More »

Crazy trade idea: Yao to Warriors

Bill Simmons, ESPN’s “Sports Guy,” is having some fun putting together three- and four-team trade ideas centered around Chris Paul and is posted them to his twitter feed. First of all, Simmons has to have the funnest job in the world. Second of all, one of his trade proposals involves the Warriors. What would you think if the Warriors could get Yao Ming (and Darius Songaila) and all they had to send away were the following players: Andris Biedrins, Vladimir… Read More »

Chris Paul: Part 2

Two questions concerning Chris Paul: Are the Warriors interested at all in pursuing him? I don’t know if they are, though I believe they should be. The only doubt I have about Paul on this roster is that it puts two starting point guards together. But I think Paul’s talent squashes that doubt. Remember when there was a chance the Warriors could get the top pick in the 2010 NBA draft? Many wrote leading up the draft lottery that if the Warriors lucked into the No.… Read More »
