The latest Golden State Warriors and NBA news

Breaking down the Warriors’ schedule

The NBA released the regular-season schedules for every team in the NBA on Tuesday. The Warriors open at home against the Houston Rockets on Wednesday, Oct. 27 at 7:30 p.m. Then they go on the road and never come home. Or at least it seems that way with how many road games dot the first couple months of the season. The Warriors actually play four of their first five games at home. After that, Golden State has a brutal stretch in which it will… Read More »

Warriors make list of marquee games

The Warriors made the list of 21 marquee games from the upcoming 2010-11 regular-season schedule revealed by the NBA Tuesday night on NBA TV. The Warriors will host the Portland Trail Blazers on Dec. 25 as one of the NBA’s five televised games on Christmas Day. The game is scheduled for a 7:30 tipoff and will air on ESPN. The teams, in order of appearances, to make the list include: Four appearances L.A. Lakers Chicago Bulls Oklahoma City Thunder Orlando… Read More »

Trading Monta Ellis: Part 2

In Friday’s entry, we explored the possibility that the new ownership of the Warriors might want to trade Monta Ellis. We then looked at the kind of teams that would be most interested in acquiring Ellis and the kind of pieces the Warriors would want back in a trade. Remember, this isn’t so much a debate about whether Ellis should be traded. We don’t know how the new owners feel, but if they want to part with Ellis, there isn’t… Read More »

Trading Monta Ellis: Part 1

Are the Warriors going to trade Monta Ellis? Nobody really knows for sure. It seems like dealing Ellis and Andris Biedrins and their large contracts may be a priority for the new owners, but there’s no concrete evidence they feel that way. ESPN ran with a reference from Tim Kawakami’s blog and made a big deal that the Warriors might be looking to deal Ellis and Biedrins and fire Don Nelson. I think the Worldwide Leader tried to make a… Read More »

Rudy Fernandez available: Any interest?

I just heard a report from the Oregonian’s Jason Quick that the Blazers are aggressively shopping shooting guard Rudy Fernandez. Quick said that three teams: the Celtics, the Bulls and the Knicks are emerging as likely landing spots for Fernandez. Trades being discussed are of two varieties: Fernandez for a future first-round draft pick or Fernandez in a package deal that brings back a player or a player and picks. With that in mind, do you have any interest in… Read More »

Hollinger: Warriors among offseason’s winners

ESPN’s John Hollinger wrote about the teams he considers winners in this NBA offseason. It’s an Insider article, so you may not be able to access it, but I’ll provide a link to the story just in case. Grouped in with the teams you’d expect to populate such a list (the Heat, the Bulls, etc.) are the Warriors. The team has had a pretty good month, trading for David Lee and locking up a potential starter at small forward (Dorell… Read More »
