The latest Golden State Warriors and NBA news

Thoughts on the sale, Lee, Wright and more …

I’ve been on vacation for the past week, attending a family wedding, and was unable to find any free time to put together anything of worth regarding the vast amount of Warriors news that has broken during that time frame. I have a lot to catch up on. In order of importance: THE SALE Finally, the process that began in July 2009 has become reality. When I first heard that Chris Cohan was considering selling the team, it was the… Read More »

Potential buyers trimmed to four

I’m not sure who broke this story first, but Marcus Thompson of the Contra Costa Times is providing the most details, so I’ll provide you a link to his article. Click here to read Marcus Thompson’s report. What you need to know is that the Warriors have trimmed the list of bidders to purchase the team from 12 to four. Simmons also reported that Ellison’s bid did not exceed his previous offer of $315 million and that the range of offers was between $275 and $350 million. According to Simmons, bids were also submitted by… Read More »

Should the new owner keep Nelson around?

The wonderful happy news out of Oakland this morning, that Chris Cohan has finally decided to sell the Warriors, has barely had time to settle. When I first received the e-mail, I had to read it twice because I didn’t believe it. I had hoped that the rumors of a potential sale would transform into something real, but in the back of my mind I harbored a fear that Cohan would hold onto the Warriors interminably, like a Bay Area… Read More »

Should the Warriors rebuild?

I’m not sure why I get so excited about the trade deadline each season. When you look back at the history of deals made in February, the track record isn’t very good. Many deals are made to clear salary, and even the teams that buy often misjudge how an incoming player is going to fit with the new team. By the time the trade deadline passes, there are usually only 25-30 games remaining in the season. Most players need at… Read More »
