Warriors in pursuit of Amundson

According to Marc Stein of ESPN, the Warriors are one of four teams trying to sign free agent Louis Amundson. The high-energy power forward, who averaged 4.7 points, 4.4 rebounds and 0.9 blocks in 14.8 minutes per game last season with the Suns, is closing in on a decision between the Warriors, Pacers and Hornets. Another unidentified team, according to Stein, may also be in the mix. Hopefully this means Amundson’s price tag, once expected to be about $3 million per… Read More »

LeBron to Miami … or is it a bluff?

ESPN and Newsday reported late Wednesday night that multiple sources were indicating that LeBron James has decided to join fellow All-Stars Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh in Miami, forming a super team with all kinds of interesting subplots for the coming season. Can the Heat contend for a title with three of the best players in the NBA and a collection of cheap replacement-level players? Can James, Wade and Bosh co-exist, sharing the ball and the credit without their egos getting in… Read More »

Bosh, Wade commit to Miami (now stay away, LeBron)

The big news this morning, reported first by ESPN, is that Chris Bosh has decided to join Dwyane Wade in Miami. What remains unclear is the status of LeBron James. With most expecting him to stay in Cleveland, it would be a shocking turn of events if he announced Thursday that he’s leaving the Cavaliers to join Wade and Bosh with the Heat. ESPN reports that James hasn’t ruled out this possibility. Reacting to this news, I like that Bosh… Read More »

LeBron to announce decision Thursday

Finally, some real news from the LeBron James Sweepstakes. ESPN is reporting that James will announce which team he will choose during a one-hour special on ESPN on Thursday night at 6 p.m. PST. Here’s an excerpt from the ESPN report: LeBron James is planning to announce the team with which he will sign during a one-hour special on ESPN Thursday night, ESPN The Magazine’s Chris Broussard has learned through independent sources. ESPN would only confirm that active discussions for… Read More »

Morrow drawing interest; Frye worth $25 million?

Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski is at it again. He reported this morning that Warriors restricted free agent Anthony Morrow is drawing interest from at least six teams. Here’s the tweet: G-State restricted free agent Anthony Morrow has slew of interest, including Spurs, Celtics, Lakers, Blazers, Clips and Jazz, sources say. Shooting is a premium skill in the NBA, which is why Morrow has so many teams interested in his services. Considering he’s a restricted free agent, if any of the… Read More »

Update: Gooden no longer a FA possibility; Miller too expensive?

In Wednesday’s article about the Warriors’ best free agent options, I listed power forward/center Drew Gooden as a good fit for the Warriors. Apparently, the Bucks also considered him a good fit, enough to give the 28-year-old a five-year contract worth $32 million. Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports was the first to report the news (he seems to break everything). I liked Gooden because he was a veteran presence who can be a dominant rebounder and is a good defensive… Read More »

Best free agent options for Warriors

Teams can begin talking and negotiating with free agents tomorrow morning at 12:01 a.m. EDT. Many of the teams in the NBA won’t wait until you wake up tomorrow morning to start pursuing their players of choice, they’ll be calling agents and in some cases even arriving at the doorsteps of free agents as soon as the clock hits 12:01. Free agency, especially this offseason with perhaps the most celebrated list ever of possible player acquisitions, is a serious business. The… Read More »
