Hornets brass backs up talk

Do you remember when Chris Paul wanted to be traded? Then he met with the Hornets general manager and coach and was impressed enough by their pitch that he changed his mind? Well, it seems the Hornets brass wasn’t just blowing smoke. They seem to recognize what they have in Paul and are at least attempting to improve the team around him. ESPN’s Chad Ford is reporting that a complicated four-team trade has been agreed to that, at least on… Read More »

Curry’s sophomore trajectory: What history teaches us

I was reading something on a message board a couple weeks ago about Stephen Curry and what kind of statistical jump Warriors fans expect from him in his second season in the NBA. Many of the predictions were astonishing, somewhere in the neighborhood of 20+ points, 5+ rebounds and 10+ assists. Some were predicting 12 or 13 assists per game. Considering Curry’s rookie statistics — 17.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 5.9 assists — a jump as fantastic as 20-5-10 would be… Read More »

Chris Paul’s statement after meeting

Chris Paul released the following statement after meeting with the Hornets on Monday morning: The meeting went well.  It was great to get an opportunity to sit down with Coach Williams, President Weber and our new General Manager Dell Demps. I expressed my desire to win and I like what they said about the direction that they want to take the team.  I have been a Hornet my entire career and I hope to represent the city of New Orleans… Read More »

Chris Paul: Part 2

Two questions concerning Chris Paul: Are the Warriors interested at all in pursuing him? I don’t know if they are, though I believe they should be. The only doubt I have about Paul on this roster is that it puts two starting point guards together. But I think Paul’s talent squashes that doubt. Remember when there was a chance the Warriors could get the top pick in the 2010 NBA draft? Many wrote leading up the draft lottery that if the Warriors lucked into the No.… Read More »

One more time: Chris Paul

CBS Sports is reporting that Chris Paul has essentially demanded a trade from New Orleans. It’s still a rumor, but it’s starting to gain some traction. The following teams are listed as the most likely destinations for Paul: Magic, Knicks, Blazers, Cavs and Lakers. I still say that if Paul is available, the Warriors would be crazy not to present the best offer they can put together. The Hornets will be looking for “some assets, an expiring contract and a… Read More »

If Chris Paul is available …

If you haven’t seen the news that came out yesterday, ESPN’s Chad Ford dropped some fascinating information regarding Hornets superstar point guard Chris Paul. Ford reported that the Portland Trail Blazers were close to a deal with the Hornets before the draft that would have brought them Paul. Here’s what Ford wrote: According to the source, the Blazers got close to a deal with the Hornets last week that would’ve sent Andre Miller, Joel Przybilla, Nicolas Batum, Jerryd Bayless and the 22nd pick… Read More »

Hornets fire Byron Scott

The NBA’s first coaching change is underway, as the New Orleans Hornets have responded to a 3-6 start by firing 2008 NBA Coach of the Year Byron Scott. Here’s the article about the move on ESPN.com. Scott has always seemed like one of the NBA’s best young coaches to me. I know the Hornets’ 3-6 record is disappointing, but I wouldn’t tag Scott for the blame. The Hornets won 56 games two seasons ago and 49 last season (they were… Read More »
