Q&A: Who starts at center if Bogut can’t go?
The Warriors need to keep their fingers crossed that Andrew Bogut will be healthy and in the lineup on Oct. 31 and hope that he stays there all season. The alternatives are not attractive.… Read More »

I have mixed emotions about the Warriors’ season-opening 132-128 win against the Houston Rockets. Emotion No. 1: Relieved I’m glad the Warriors got a win. The Rockets are a good team, even though they were playing the second night of a back-to-back and without Yao Ming. The Warriors had no excuses if they had lost this game, so it’s good that they held on for the victory. Emotion No. 2: Excited There were a lot of good things to take away… Read More »
First, I apologize for the long delay in posting something new on Warriors Wire. I have been swamped at work with high school sports, the World Series and many other responsibilities. I’ve had to take a step back from this blog because of other demands on my time. So I apologize. I’m excited for a new NBA season and can’t wait to see how this Warriors team performs. As most of you know, the Warriors open the regular season tonight… Read More »
ESPN’s Chad Ford graded the offseason moves for all the NBA teams and the Warriors stacked up well in the West. The team ranked fifth among the 15 teams in the West and were awarded a B. It’s little surprise that the primary justification for the high grade was the transition of ownership from Chris Cohan to Joseph Lacob. But, Ford also mentioned some of the Warriors’ young talent in the Warriors’ write-up, which is appreciated. It’s an ESPN Insider… Read More »
This isn’t a full-blown season preview; that won’t come until much closer to the start of the season. But, I do feel optimistic about the Warriors’ odds of improving this season, so I thought I’d share some of the reasoning. Optimistic about improvement doesn’t mean I think the Warriors will win 40+ games this season and challenge for the playoffs. This team still has a lot of question marks that need to be answered before we start thinking along those… Read More »
Do you remember when Chris Paul wanted to be traded? Then he met with the Hornets general manager and coach and was impressed enough by their pitch that he changed his mind? Well, it seems the Hornets brass wasn’t just blowing smoke. They seem to recognize what they have in Paul and are at least attempting to improve the team around him. ESPN’s Chad Ford is reporting that a complicated four-team trade has been agreed to that, at least on… Read More »
Wow. Andris Biedrins gave a lengthy interview in which he speaks candidly about last season and his career thus far in the NBA. Suffice it to say, it’s not very flattering to the Warriors organization, Don Nelson or his teammates. The great team at warriorsworld.net translated the interview and provided the highlights. Read it here. Here’s one juicy excerpt: I can tell you right now, about our team, most of my teammates are egoists. But what can you do? It’s… Read More »
Shaun Powell of NBA.com has a Top 10 list of the general managers in the NBA with the most challenging jobs this coming season. Read it here. Not surprisingly, Warriors GM Larry Riley is on the list at No. 4 with this explanation: Could be a front-office casualty, with new ownership prepared to take over and change the culture. Warriors just finished a hapless decade, second only to the Knicks. Was responsible for giving big extension to Stephen Jackson, then watched… Read More »
ESPN’s future power rankings (it’s an Insider article, but here’s the link just in case) rank how NBA teams will fare in upcoming seasons, decided by a formula made up of the following factors: players on the current roster, quality of ownership and management, the financial philosophy of the team, and future draft picks and draft positioning. In the latest rankings, which are updated a few times each year, the Warriors made a fairly sizeable jump, moving from No. 28 to No. 21.… Read More »
