So, if you’re a Warriors fan, no doubt you’ve heard the rumors the past few days about the Hornets and Warriors talking trade. The centerpiece of those talks? Chris Paul and Stephen Curry.

Well, tonight I came across some tweets indicating that the package the Warriors have offered to New Orleans would be Curry, rookie Klay Thompson and last year’s lottery pick, Ekpe Udoh. This would bring back a superstar point guard in Paul.

That same report claims the Warriors would also like to amnesty Andris Biedrins in order to sign Tyson Chandler to a multi-year deal starting in the $15-million-per-year range.

Would these be good moves for the Warriors?

In my opinion, an emphatic yes to Chandler. A dynamic defensive center who protects the rim and is a leader on the floor and in the locker room? Sounds good. If the price is relinquishing rights to Biedrins, that’s a smart move.

I’m not as sold on the Paul trade rumor. I love Paul. He’s one of the best — if not the best — point guards in the NBA when healthy. It’s the health thing that worries me. Paul has had some issues with his knees. I worry that we’ll see the same deterioration in his knees the next couple seasons as we saw in Brandon Roy’s last season.

The other concern I have is giving up Curry. If you’re going to trade Curry, bringing back Paul is absolutely the kind of value you’re looking for, but it still feels like the Warriors would be surrendering too valuable an asset. Curry is one of the best young point guards in the game and he’s younger and cheaper than Paul. Granted, the Warriors will have to pay him soon, but even so, losing the youth and potential of Curry is a hard pill to swallow — even if the reward is Paul.

I’m not as concerned about the threat that Paul would play one season and leave. The Bay Area is a big market that has catered to big stars before. If Paul and Chandler came on board and the Warriors started winning and made the playoffs, I could very easily see Paul sticking around.

If the Warriors made these moves, I wouldn’t object to them. Bringing in Chandler and Paul for the price tag of Curry, Biedrins, Udoh and Thompson is a good move. I think those moves make the Warriors a playoff team. But, I’d be just as happy if the Warriors made the move for Chandler and kept Curry, Udoh and Thompson.

What do you think? Please post your thoughts in the comments below. I’m eager to hear your take on this.
