The latest trade report on ESPN.com about Amare Stoudemire had an interesting mention of the Cavaliers’ reported interest in Warriors forward Corey Maggette.

Read the report here.

Here’s exactly what it says about Maggette and the Cavaliers:

Sources told ESPN The Magazine’s Chris Broussard on Monday that the Cavs are also in talks with the Warriors about Corey Maggette.

Not much to go on there. It’s interesting. Rumors are usually either false or the talks have already happened and died. But if the Warriors are looking at a firesale, the Cavaliers, who are looking to take on as much talent as possible to convince LeBron James that he should stick around after this season, would make sense as a trade partner.

Looking at the Cavaliers’ roster, I’m not sure what the Cavaliers could or would offer for Maggette. If Maggette is a second option if the Stoudemire talks fall through, then I suppose Zydrunas Ilgauskus’ expiring contract might be in play, especially if the Warriors were willing to release Ilgauskus so he could re-sign with the Cavs in a month.

I don’t know what to make of this news. It’s probably nothing, but it was interesting to see the Warriors mentioned in trade talks. Their name hasn’t been out there as much as I thought it would be.
