Warriors guard Monta Ellis underwent an MRI exam today in Palo Alto to determine the nature of his injury during Monday night’s game against the Dallas Mavericks. The results of the MRI confirmed the injury is a mild left knee sprain.

This is good news. The injury looked worse Monday night, especially watching Ellis writhe around on the ground in pain. But depending on the severity of the sprain, this kind of injury usually keeps a player out about a week. The Warriors said that Ellis will be re-evaluated Wednesday and that his status for that night’s game is uncertain. I’d be surprised if he plays Wednesday.
